"Even though a hat isn't an item that can be washed after use, I had to find the right technique to fix the dye on the felt and obtain a result that was bright and long-lasting.
I also managed to dye the grosgrain ribbon (grogrè) of the "Forestiere" hat using Aybel dye in a shade I couldn't find anywhere else , to match the color of the leather used for the brim."
These wonderful hats are entirely handmade by Egija in Chapolala, Camargue, France. Egija explains:
"Aybel dye has allowed me to realize my most ambitious projects. It is inexpensive, readily available, and quick to obtain. For me, as a milliner, it opens the doors to unlimited creativity .
I have to be patient because I have to apply up to 5 coats of dye to achieve the desired look and intensity, knowing that between each coat the felt can take more than 24 hours to dry, which requires rinsing and checking the result on the dry product at each stage.

I have a degree in fine arts, with a specialty in textiles, so I can assure you that all it takes is willpower and creativity to make the projects you've imagined come true."
